Brownsburg Middle School Choir

Jamie Varvel is a native of Brownsburg, IN and a graduate of Anderson University. After a short time living and teaching music in the northern part of the state (Warsaw Community Schools), she was happy to return to Brownsburg as a music teacher at Bethesda Christian School in Brownsburg for a couple of years before landing her dream job as the choir teacher at Brownsburg East Middle School in 2017. Mrs. Varvel has a passion for singing and teaching all kinds of music from classical to Broadway to pop and especially Disney tunes! She has a strong desire to encourage young singers to excel in their talent and become kind, respectful, and impactful citizens in their town. When Mrs. Varvel isn't teaching music, she loves spending time with her husband Drew, daughter Medli, and Siberian Husky, Link. She is the principal oboe player for the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra and loves chocolate and iced tea!

Justin Stahl is originally from the Indianapolis area and graduated from Marian University.  He worked for several schools in the area as an accompanist, teacher’s assistant, and arranger.  After marrying his wife Lora, they moved to Ohio where he taught vocal music and band for five years.  When not in the classroom, Mr. Stahl enjoys a side career of concertizing across the country and abroad as a professional theatre organist – you may have even seen him perform for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s annual Yuletide Celebration!  Mr. Stahl has also served in the Indiana Army National Guard’s 38th Infantry Division Band for 20 years; fulfilling several roles such as senior instrumentalist, drum major, and rehearsal conductor.  Mr. Stahl is thrilled to have joined the Brownsburg Music Department.  Mr. Stahl’s philosophy of music education centers on truly getting to know his students, creating a safe environment for learning, and guiding them to their next steps through music.   

Mrs. Fowler is excited about her seventh year with Brownsburg's middle school choirs.   Before joining the choral staff, she worked in BCSC for five years as an elementary music teacher, a private voice/piano teacher, arranger and accompanist. Mrs. Fowler has also served as a conductor with the Indianapolis Children's Choir. Mrs. Fowler loves the opportunity to invest in her students and build their confidence.  Her classroom is a safe place filled with laughter, growth, and teamwork. 

When not at school, Mrs. Fowler enjoys spending time with her family, bicycling, reading, and playing keyboard for her church's worship team. She and her husband live in Brownsburg, her youngest is a student at Indiana University, and her oldest teaches Choir at Noblesville High School.
